It’s the 4th of July and in America, we celebrate our independence. I’ve always prided myself on how independent I am, but as I grow older and hopefully wiser, it’s my interdependence that I’ve come to value. One of my biggest challenges in fact, has been to understand that interdependence does not mean failure or weakness.
I now see myself as a thread in a vast web of connection and as such, an important part of the whole. Whichever way I move (or vibrate) resonates out to the rest of the web and creates a definite effect, just as it affects me when you, one of the threads on this limitless web, vibrate a particular way (and we’re always vibrating).
Today I choose to celebrate and give thanks for all the ways in which being part of something so vast supports and uplifts me. I’m thankful for my family and friends whose impact on my life is obvious, but also for my global family whose connection to me isn’t always so apparent, but is nevertheless ever-present. This interdependence is not just something to be grateful for, but is as vital as the air we breathe.
The Light that is in me is in you, and vice-versa. Namaste, my friends.
