I have a friend in California who is a firefighter. It’s not her passion, but she’s doing this very important work and she knows the risks…sees them every day. And if that’s not enough, she’s married to a policeman, so she sees a great deal, hears the tragic stories, and witnesses them herself.
Recently, a couple of fellow firefighters were injured, and one quite severely. My friend doesn’t know him personally, but she purchased a couple healing sessions from me, because that’s just how her heart is…big and generous and compassionate. Her greatest ambition is to be a philanthropist.
This morning I woke up to an email she’d written about the miracle of healing. The firefighter has been extubated (is now breathing on his own), can walk and talk again, and has been moved to a hospital closer to home…something my friend called “nothing short of amazing!”
Saint Florian may be the patron saint of firefighters and their families, but my friend in California is as well. Perhaps Saint Florian is guiding her…
