Sometimes people do things simply so that others can experience a few moments of joy. Immense effort may go into preparing a project that offers us an incentive to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, listen to the music. In Austin, the Art Alliance has taken it upon themselves to place 14 pianos in the downtown area simply for the purpose of enjoyment. The pianos are all uniquely decorated by music lovers, and coming across them gives me the same sort of joy I experienced when I lived in San Francisco and came across painted heart sculptures around the city.
Whether you play the piano or not, there’s child-like wonder in unexpectedly coming across one and then stopping for a bit of time to watch someone tickle the ivories. Let’s have more moments like these…
