Terrific Teens

Yesterday I went to the Unity service and was surprised to learn that the entire event would be led by a group of young people from the church, middle and high school aged. They were in the band, the choir, served as ushers, handled multimedia, prepared food as the hospitality team, helped with the little ones, spoke of coming events and even gave two sermons…really impressive sermons.

I was agog (I like that word and rarely get to use it) at their poise, self confidence, and zeal. In fact, zeal was the topic for the day.

Do you remember zeal? In case you’ve forgotten, here’s what it means: fervor for a person, cause, or object; eager desire or endeavor; enthusiastic diligence; ardor.

I recommend refamiliarizing yourself with zeal. Zeal for self, zeal for God, zeal for life.

Reminds me of the movie When Harry Met Sally and (following that scene where Meg Ryan steals the show) the woman in the diner says to the waitress: “I’ll have what she’s having!”

Make mine ZEAL!
